Alter Egos

Not unlike someone with a multi-personality disorder I go by various names across the WWW for various reasons. Here are a few of those Alter egos;

Eric Welthorpe's Avatar on ChavScum/SpazMonkeyEric Welthorpe (primary avatar right)

‘Eric’ was an offline creation who used to write to various publications. He started as a close relative to Joe Orton‘s Edna Welthorpe – and any editor worth his salt would have spotted him a mile away. Fortunately for ‘Eric’ not one of the ones he corresponded with realised.

Read more about ‘Eric Welthorpe‘.

Jim MoriartyJimMoriarty (primary avatar right)
In short, JimMoriarty is a troll, an out-and-out trouble maker, but not in a malicious way. He appears to play Devil’s Advocate on matters Rand wouldn’t normally get involved in, essentially he muddies the waters . He posts mainly on single issue forums where the members are so ‘into’ their subject they show severe signs of apoplexy if anyone dare upset their status quo.

Dr John DeeDr Dee (primary avatar right)
Sometimes Dr John Dee is an esoteric chap taking on lofty discourses and allowing folk to believe him a practitioner in various occult arts.

[TheLiar]
This was a very early online psuedonym for Rand. Used solely on mIRC. Taken from Stephen Fry’s first novel it seemed apt as experience showed not many people on IRC told the absolute truth about themselves. Rand chose a username that pointed out the obvious to all and sundry… Or did it?

Cornelius AgrippaAgrippa (primary avatar right)
Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa von Nettesheim, to flesh him out a bit. Very similar to DrDee, used where the good doctor’s name had already been taken.

AnalAnalyst
As it sounds. AA is an utter pain in the arse. He’s so contrary he very often contradicts himself. And, as a Rand’s mother oft said of him as a child, “You’d start a row in an empty house!”.

Harry TuttleHarry Tuttle (primary avatar right)
‘Harry’ was Robert de Niro‘s character in Terry Gilliam‘s dystopian classic Brazil. ‘Harry’ appears on sites criticising the government (local, national, international), bureaucracy, the police, etc.

Rand Hobart
Being a pseudonym of MumbleMumble (are you following all this? There’ll be questions afterward…) he also appears elsewhere online to a lesser or greater degree.

Of course, all this might just be a load of bollocks! :D
