About

Rand Hobart‘Rand Hobart’ is one of the many keyboard names of MumbleMumble – so indecisive.

‘Rand Hobart’ is a character in the Jacques Tourneur film Night of the Demon (1957). Played by Brian Wilde.

This ‘Rand’ was born in Darlington, County Durham, England in 1961.

The use of the name Rand Hobart comes from MumbleMumble‘s adoration of the film, however it wasn’t MumbleMumble who started the ball rolling. Long time friend of 30 years & fellow fan of NotD, David Royle, when writing to MumbleMumble would address the letters to Rand Hobart. In a reciprocal flash of uninspired copy-cattery MumbleMumble would also address letters for David to Rand Hobart. And it just kinda stuck, both referring to the other as Rand Hobart!

Although, it has to be said, MumbleMumble‘s letters were, more often than not, signed off as Baroness Snapper

So, what’s the blog  all about then?

Anything and everything that grabs my attention. Not just now & today, but shizzle from the past. Old poems, thoughts, fiction – much of which will be of no innerest to anyone else whatsoever, some of which will offend (tough shit, this blog is for me and I don’t care what anyone else thinks), some of which others may find amusing, and more still that will bore one to death.

Shit comes to me as I go about my business in the real world, whether that’s in a meeting with a client, trawling a forum – either one I work on or one I visit for pleasure and distraction – something in the news, on TV, a theme from a film or a song, someone’s Tweet on Twitter, another blog entry, whatever. It’s all grist to the mill.

There are two regular, no three, regular entries;

In the Realm of the Mundane
Just a list of daily activities, nothing of any great import for anyone, not even me.
EDIT:
Still doing this but in ‘private’…

Twitter Updates
This one does what it says on the tin. A daily digest of Tweets I’ve committed to the outside world.
EDIT: Still doing this but not as much…

Album Art Game
A once a month indulgence. It’s fun, frivolous, fortuitous. Have a go
