‘Bronson’ to appeal for freedom

Britain’s most infamous prisoner, Charles Bronson, will broadcast a plea for freedom at the premiere of a film about his life.

Charles BronsonA recording of the inmate at his high-security prison in Yorkshire will be played at the London showing of the film next week. Prison officers have condemned the recording.

Bronson, 56, was first jailed in 1974 after robbing a post office and has since spent most of his life behind bars. A series of attacks on staff and other prisoners have kept him in jail and earned him the reputation of Britain’s most violent inmate.
